Ensure our local communities have the resources they need to investigate and prosecute crimes

As a former police officer, Chris understands the crucial role resources from the Attorney General’s office play in solving crimes and getting justice for victims.

The Attorney General should be a partner in public safety — stepping in to assist local law enforcement when needed so cases move forward, offenders are held accountable, and victims get the justice they deserve.

70% of law enforcement agencies in Kansas have 10 or fewer officers. Yet, Chris hears time and again from local sheriffs and law enforcement that they’ve called Kris Kobach’s office for help in investigating a major crime, and they don’t even get a call back. Or they’re told no.

The role of the Attorney General is to support local law enforcement, but Kobach is failing in that duty.

Law enforcement agencies need an Attorney General who is on their side — providing backup to local departments investigating and prosecuting complex crimes, communicating regularly with local leaders to get ahead of issues before they become crises, and picking up the phone when agencies call for help.

As Attorney General, Chris will hold quarterly meetings across the state with all local law enforcement leaders to increase communication and identify emerging crime trends that may require additional resources or support. These meetings will be held in every corner of the state and online to reduce barriers to law enforcement getting the support they need.

As your Attorney General, Chris will say yes when local law enforcement calls his office for help investigating and prosecuting major crimes, including drug distribution and child sexual abuse.

Recruit and retain quality law enforcement

Kansans deserve the best and brightest protecting them on the streets. As a former police officer, Chris understands firsthand the importance of quality training for law enforcement. High-quality training can prepare officers to keep themselves and civilians safe.

Improving access to training

The Attorney General’s office hosts training for local law enforcement throughout the year. Most of these are held in Topeka, and many of the smaller departments across Kansas cannot afford to send their staff without sacrificing emergency response coverage in their communities. As Attorney General, Chris will commit to hosting training sessions throughout the state and expanding online options to increase access for all of our law enforcement, not just those in the northeast corner.

Expanding mental health resources

We must also ensure our law enforcement officers have the mental health support they need. First responders are constantly heading toward danger, exposing them to countless physical and mental hazards. First responders experience PTSD at a rate as much as three times the rate of civilians, with the rate of PTSD among first responders as high as 30%.

As a board member of First Responders Support Team, a non-profit dedicated to providing peer support services to first responders experiencing PTSD, Chris has firsthand experience in supporting first responders as they navigate various mental health challenges.

Chris will fight for increased access to mental health support for our officers. Kansas does not recognize PTSD as an eligible workers’ compensation claim – we must change this. Because officers are not able to receive job-related mental health benefits, many forgo care, leading to mental health issues that can be debilitating. As Attorney General, Chris will advocate for legislation that adds PTSD as an eligible workers’ compensation claim, because we cannot let our first responders suffer in silence.

Providing high-quality, accessible training and supporting the mental health of our first responders is a key piece of retaining quality law enforcement that will keep our communities and state safe.

Protect consumers from the constant barrage of scams and fraud

As a Senior Staff Attorney with the Kansas Securities Commission, Chris has prosecuted perpetrators of fraud and scams, recovering money for Kansans and putting the bad guys behind bars.

In 2025, Kansans had nearly $70 million stolen from them through fraud, representing more than 17,500 individual cases. The vast majority of these scams are imposter scams – bad actors impersonating someone you know, the government, or another trusted entity.

And the development of artificial intelligence is making it harder to identify these scams.

As Chris travels across Kansas, he has heard time and again from local law enforcement and community members that Kansans are losing thousands of dollars to online scams. Whether it’s a fake tractor for sale or someone pretending to be a family member who has been arrested, these scams are taking real money from hardworking Kansans.

Chris will bring his experience investigating and prosecuting for the Kansas Securities Commission to the Attorney General’s office to ensure Kansans, especially our elderly and veterans, are educated on and protected from scams.

Chris will partner with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to share intelligence and strengthen the state-level approach to fraud and scam prevention, particularly when it comes to the rise in cybercrimes. Working in collaboration with other agencies will streamline the Office of the Attorney General’s ability to investigate when Kansans report scams and stop them before more money is lost.

When scams do happen, Chris will fight to deliver justice for victims, and he will work to secure sentences that send a strong message to other scammers that their schemes won’t be tolerated in Kansas.

Kansas must strengthen its defenses, and, as Attorney General, Chris will ensure that the Attorney General’s office says yes when Kansans call for help investigating and prosecuting their case.

Expand efforts to end the drug crisis

There has been a dramatic spike in overdose cases throughout our state, and more than 2,000 Kansans have died from fentanyl overdoses. As Attorney General, Chris will be laser-focused on public safety solutions that confront this crisis head-on, including targeting drug traffickers, supporting local and state law enforcement in getting dangerous drugs off our streets, ensuring all communities have Naloxone readily available, and strengthening prevention and treatment programs.

Chris will work to aggressively disrupt drug supply networks operating within Kansas by partnering with local, state, and federal agencies to address and stop this crisis that has claimed the lives of so many Kansans.

As Chris has traveled the state, he has heard from local law enforcement that the number of drug cases in their communities has skyrocketed. As Attorney General, Chris will work to increase access to resources and strengthen intercounty cooperation and coordination to ensure law enforcement has the resources needed to investigate and prosecute these crimes and get dangerous drugs off our streets.

The majority of drug treatment facilities in Kansas are in the northeastern corner of the state, creating barriers to care. As Attorney General, Chris will work closely with the Kansas Fights Addiction Grant Review Board to effectively allocate funds to increase access to high-quality treatment for Kansans in every corner of our state.

Address rising domestic violence lethality

As Chris has traveled the state, he’s seen how shelters are often underfunded and overcrowded – hindering the level of services they can provide to Kansans in need. As Attorney General, Chris and the Victims Services division within the AG’s office will work with local partners to ensure shelters are better funded and equipped to protect survivors.

In recent years, the deadliness of domestic violence has increased dramatically, for both victims and responding officers. According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, a Kansan was killed by an abuser every 18 days in 2024, and two police officers were killed while responding to domestic violence calls last year.

During Chris’s time as a police officer, he responded to countless domestic violence calls, working hard to ensure victims walked away safe and their attackers were brought to justice. Chris will bring his firsthand experience in investigating and prosecuting domestic violence to his role as Attorney General.

The Attorney General’s office has a Victims Services division dedicated to supporting victims and survivors throughout Kansas through state and local programs aimed at reducing violence and providing aid. This includes more than $2.5 million in annual grants to provide direct resources to victims and develop community-level violence prevention programs. As Attorney General, Chris will work diligently to ensure these resources are allocated as efficiently as possible so our local shelters receive the support they need to protect survivors.

Protect the elderly from abuse, neglect, and exploitation

Nearly 22,000 cases of suspected elder abuse were reported in fiscal year 2025, a nearly 17% increase in reported cases since 2023. As a prosecutor in Wyandotte County and with the Kansas Securities Commission, Chris has gotten justice for seniors who have been neglected, abused, and financially exploited.

Chris has heard from local law enforcement agencies across Kansas that elder abuse is one of their most reported crimes, with the majority of cases involving financial exploitation or scams.

In 2025, Kansas seniors reported losing nearly $56 million to scams and fraud. The majority of losses were from investment fraud, government impersonation, and romance scams. Between 2024 and 2025, there was a 1,143% increase in government impersonation scams, revealing a stark failure in educating Kansans about the warning signs of fraud.

The Attorney General’s office has an Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation division dedicated to working with state agencies, law enforcement, and prosecutors to prevent and prosecute these crimes.

Chris will work with the Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse Prevention Council, which is part of the Attorney General’s office, to develop recommendations for relevant state agencies and law enforcement to improve statewide fraud education and training on identifying and prosecuting these cases.

Our seniors and dependent adults deserve an Attorney General who will take decisive action to protect them from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Chris has prosecuted abuse and financial exploitation cases at the Wyandotte County District Attorney’s office and the Kansas Securities Commission. He knows what it takes to hold bad actors accountable and deliver real results for Kansas seniors.

Ensure no politician, corporation, or special interest is above the law

For the past three and a half years, the Kansas Attorney General’s office hasn’t been focused on protecting Kansans; it’s been focused on grabbing headlines and scoring political points. That stops when Chris is in the office. Partisan politics and culture wars have no place in the AG’s office.

Kris Kobach dropped a $50 million natural gas price gouging lawsuit because it didn’t fit his political agenda. He didn’t stand up to the federal government when they withheld Kansans’ tax dollars meant to improve water quality and quantity in rural Kansas, feed hungry kids, or fund our public schools. And he won’t defend Kansans unless it’s politically convenient for him.

As a prosecutor with the Kansas Securities Commission, Chris brought white-collar criminals to justice, and he’ll do the same as Kansas Attorney General.

Chris will fight for Kansans against anyone who is trying to hurt them. And he’ll bring transparency to the office of Attorney General because he answers to the people of Kansas, not partisan political agendas or special interests. There will be no more backroom deals that leave Kansans wondering why their Attorney General stopped fighting to put money back in their pockets.

If any administration is pushing unconstitutional policies or withholding our congressionally allocated tax dollars – Chris will stand up for Kansans and fight back with everything he has.

No person, regardless of their wealth or political power, is above the law.

Prioritize and expand the AG's Division of Youth Suicide Prevention

The leading cause of death for Kansans aged 10 to 17 is suicide, well above the national average. This is one of the most urgent crises facing Kansas youth. As Attorney General, Chris will put real resources, staffing, and support into teen suicide prevention, because our kids deserve to stay alive.

During the 2026 legislative session, the Legislature cut $6 million for a statewide program that provides students with access to licensed mental health professionals within their schools. More than 80 districts across Kansas were benefiting from this program, providing customized services to students and their families to support the well-being of our kids. This funding cut is unacceptable.

The Kansas Attorney General’s office has a Youth Suicide Prevention division, but under Kobach, it’s been underresourced and largely ignored. When Chris is Attorney General, this division will be a top priority.

Whether it’s fighting for quality mental health services in schools or educating community members on how to recognize warning signs – Chris is dedicated to protecting our kids.

Protect Kansas kids from unregulated online chatbots and threats

There has been a rapid emergence of unregulated online artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots that children interact with, too often with deadly consequences. As Attorney General, Chris will fight to protect children and ensure victims and survivors receive the justice they deserve.

These online chatbots often aim to create an emotional bond with children by acting as a friend, romantic partner, or even as a therapist. Online predators have also used emotional bonds to target and harm Kansas kids.

During the 2026 session, the Kansas Legislature passed Caleb’s Law, a commonsense bill that increases penalties for online sexual extortion of minors.

Chris will work with policymakers, local organizations, and schools to enhance protections for children online.

Create a Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources within the AG's office

Farmers and producers are the backbone of our state – feeding Kansans and people across the globe. As Attorney General, Chris will create a Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources within the office to ensure a direct line of communication between producers and the Attorney General.

A Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources will allow the Attorney General’s office to stay informed about the issues facing our producers and to provide expert legal guidance to our agricultural community on issues ranging from water rights to fertilizer regulation.

Kansas producers deserve an Attorney General who has their back.
