Chris Mann continues to gain broad support from organized labor in his campaign for Kansas Attorney General
LAWRENCE, KS — Chris Mann has garnered the support of a dozen labor unions in his campaign for Kansas Attorney General, highlighting his commitment to protecting and defending the Kansas workers who make our state stronger.
Today, the Kansas State Building and Construction Trades Council endorsed Chris Mann’s campaign for Kansas Attorney General. The Kansas Building and Construction Trades Council represents thousands of hardworking Kansans who help drive our state’s economy by maintaining our roads, bridges, and highways and constructing new businesses in every corner of the state.
“The Kansas State Building and Construction Trades Council is proud to endorse Chris Mann for Attorney General. Kansas workers deserve a chief law enforcement officer who will enforce the law fairly, protect consumers, and hold bad actors accountable,” President Brian Burnett said. “Throughout his career, Chris has demonstrated integrity and a commitment to doing what’s right. We trust him to stand up for working families and crack down on employers who try to cheat the system. Chris will be a strong advocate for Kansas workers, and we are proud to support his campaign.”
The Kansas State Building and Trades Council is the twelfth labor union in Kansas to announce its support of Mann’s campaign for Attorney General.
“I am honored to have received the support of a dozen Kansas labor unions, representing thousands of hardworking Kansans,” Chris Mann said. “These Kansans are a crucial part of our local communities and the state’s economy. I am grateful to have earned their trust and support as I work to return the Attorney General’s office to one focused on public service and safety, not politics.”
The Tri-County Labor Council of Eastern Kansas announced its support for Mann’s campaign last week, citing his commitment to ensuring organized labor has a voice in the decision-making process. Mann has pledged to create a labor table within the Attorney General’s office to improve communication with and support for Kansas workers.
“Kansas needs an Attorney General who will fight for workers against big corporations and businesses that are trying to take advantage of Kansans to make an extra buck. Kansas is built by union workers, and we deserve an Attorney General who understands that and will fight to ensure we are included in the decision-making process,” said President Mike Kane. “Chris Mann will be that Attorney General, and Tri-County Labor Council of Eastern Kansas is proud to endorse him for Kansas Attorney General.”
The Kansas AFL-CIO has also announced its support of Mann, highlighting his pledge to refocus the office on serving and protecting Kansas workers.
“The Attorney General’s office carries real legal weight for working people. It’s the office with the power to go after wage theft, worker misclassification, and employers who cheat the system,” Executive Secretary-Treasurer Jake Lowen said. “Right now, that power is being squandered on culture war crusades. Chris Mann is a former officer and prosecutor who will refocus it where it belongs, on protecting Kansas workers. The unions of the Kansas AFL-CIO are proud to stand behind him.”
Chris Mann’s campaign has also received the support of the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council, the Greater Kansas City Building and Construction Trades Council, the Laborers Local #1290, the Pipe Fitters Local 533, the IBEW Local #124, the IBEW Local #271, the Bricklayers Local #15, Ironworkers Local #10, and the Operative Plasters and Cement Mason Local 518.
